On September 25, MUST University will celebrate the first anniversary of the Wellness Center, a pioneering space dedicated to promoting holistic well-being, mental health, and quality of life in the academic environment.
Created in 2024, the center was born as a visionary project initially aimed at the institution’s employees. During this period, several awareness-raising actions, applied research, and innovative projects related to Lifestyle Medicine were carried out, always with a focus on creating a culture of sustainable and scientific well-being. The growing support of the internal community and the results achieved in this first year consolidated the Wellness Center as an unprecedented initiative in the educational sector.
MUST University stands out for being the first institution to invest in a support center aimed, in a structured way, at both employees and, now, its students. This is a milestone that reinforces the vision that the quality of learning goes far beyond technical knowledge: it is necessary to take care of people as a whole.
According to research, between 30% and 40% of university students drop out of courses due to difficulties in balancing study, work, and personal life, in addition to facing emotional overload, mental health problems, and lack of institutional support. A study by the American Psychological Association (APA) also points out that almost 60% of university students report feeling high levels of stress, which directly impacts their motivation and academic performance. This scenario reinforces the relevance of the Wellness Center’s expansion for MUST students.
Starting on the 25th, the center will expand its activities and begin offering initiatives aimed at students, including educational content, research, and initiatives aimed at improving physical and mental health and developing social-emotional skills, which are essential not only for academic life but also for their professional future.
According to Luciane Soutello, Director of the Wellness Center, this expansion reaffirms the project’s original mission:
“The Wellness Center was created with the purpose of caring for people and creating a culture of sustainable well-being. During this first year, we were able to impact employees with practical and scientific initiatives. Now, we are extending this care to our students, preparing them for a healthier, more productive, and meaningful academic journey.”
For Giulliana Carbonari, President of MUST University, the initiative represents a strategic advance in the comprehensive education of its students:
“We believe that education should go beyond technical knowledge. Well-being is an essential part of a student’s education. With the Wellness Center, we reinforce our commitment to developing not only professionals prepared for the market, but also more conscious, balanced, and happy citizens.”
The official launch of the Wellness Center for students will take place on September 25, at 7:30 p.m. (Brasília time), on the official MUST University YouTube channel.
With this expansion, MUST University reaffirms its mission to integrate knowledge, well-being, and sustainable development, taking a leading role in the transformation of higher education and contributing to the construction of a healthier, more engaged, and fulfilling academic community.
