Discover the poetry that blossoms in the Cerrado: “O Ipê e a Sabiá – Lições do Mestre” (The Ipê Tree and the Thrush – Lessons from the Master)

Some books are not just stories – they are invitations to contemplation, seeds of affection, and windows to worlds that inspire the soul. Such is “O Ipê e a Sabiá – Lições do Mestre”, the new work by poet Leonardo Luiz Ludovico Póvoa. Published in a charming bilingual edition (Portuguese-English), the book arrives in 2025 with a purpose that goes far beyond entertainment: to move, teach, and sow essential values in the hearts of children, young people, and adults.

With the lightness of a thrush’s song and the silent wisdom of a blooming ipê tree, the work takes us on a narrative that begins in the Brazilian cerrado, but reverberates as a universal hymn of love, care, and faith. The Yellow Ipê and the Thrush, protagonists of this story as delicate as it is profound, teach us that “those who sow with love will reap with joy.” At a time when the world is seeking to reconnect with what is essential, this story is a true gift.

“I wrote ‘The Ipê Tree and the Thrush’ with my heart turned to children and those who still carry poetry within themselves. I believe that by sowing love and care from an early age, we are preparing a lighter, more conscious, and more humane world,” says Leonardo Luiz Ludovico Póvoa, also author of the works Peixes dos Rios do Tocantins (Fish of the Tocantins Rivers), Jalapão em Poesias (Jalapão in Poetry), and Coletânea – Tocantins e suas Belezas Naturais (Collection – Tocantins and its Natural Beauties).

The strength of this work lies not only in its poetic beauty and narrative sensitivity. It also lies in the author’s perspective—a man whose career is marked by a commitment to education, culture, and transformative communication. Leonardo Luiz Ludovico Póvoa, born in Goiás and Tocantins at heart, is a leading name in Brazilian children’s and youth literature. With seven children’s books published, several poetry collections, and a vibrant career as an educator and communicator, he knows better than most how to transform words into bridges for affection and learning.

It is no coincidence that this new work comes to the world with the seal of approval of an international institution that shares this same vision: MUST University. By sponsoring and supporting “O Ipê e a Sabiá – Lições do Mestre” (The Ipê and the Thrush – Lessons from the Master), the American university reaffirms its commitment to inclusive, multicultural education and the appreciation of art as a tool for social transformation. “We believe in the power of words, literature, and affection as tools capable of transforming the world—especially when they begin to touch the hearts of young readers,” says Giulianna C. Meneghello, president of MUST University.

More than a book, “The Ipê and the Thrush” is a literary experience that gently touches on themes such as faith, generosity, connection with nature, and gratitude for life. Each page carries with it a rare delicacy, an enchanting lyricism, and an invitation for each of us—adults and children alike—to also be seeds of love and harmony wherever we go.

If you are looking for a rich, sensitive, and meaningful read, don’t let this work pass you by. Ideal for reading with the family, in the classroom, or in the quiet of a peaceful afternoon, it will certainly leave a deep impression on those who allow themselves to be touched by it.
